Kaelu is a streetwear company that aspires to modernize the use of silk. It was founded by Raphael Hiribarne, a French entrepreneur, born in Paris from an American mom and a Vietnamese dad.
In 2018 Raphael decided to go to Vietnam for the first time in his life. A passionate musician, he saw in the country that gave birth to his father the opportunity to find inspiration for his next album. He found something he didn't expect. Something magical !

Walking around markets and shops in Vietnam can be quite an adventure for the senses. Exotic perfumes, vivid colors, noise, traffic and bustle. Vietnam is a busy and exciting place. One day, he stumbled upon the little shop of Tinh Dao, a fashion designer. It wasn't the first time that Raphael walked into a couture shop, once again he was impressed by all the beautiful fabrics that Vietnam makes. Together with Tinh, they started designing the first Kaelu prototype. An American jacket made out of Vietnamese silk. A chance to be unique. As noble as silk, as cool as a bomber. Thrilled with the result, Raphael and Tinh made a promise to each other. Raphael would invest all his time and savings to promote the jackets and Tinh with the help of the best tailors in town would make the finest products.
